In plain words
God Alone Is the Right Driver for the Car Called Life
But to a question of this kind, another kind of question may arise from you. What is the reason? What is this car's fault? ‘The people of this workshop must do the job properly; it is not the car's fault,’ you may argue. Well, in this workshop we fitted fine parts. We did all the service it needed. But look at the owner who sent that car: the one called the owner is the jīva, and the one he sent along with it is the driver called the mind. That driver keeps selling off those parts along the way. That is not the workshop's fault. So keep this driver called the mind a proper one. Keep one who is faithful. Then this driver will take care to bring it home in just the state the service left it in. A driver under his master's control behaves well, with fear and reverence. When the master himself falls under this driver's sway, the driver climbs onto the master's head and may change the master to suit himself. So for one who keeps the mind under control, life goes safe and well, with all such parts, body, intellect and citta. But because the owner himself falls under the driver's sway, the driver then even sets about using it as a taxi as he pleases. So, since in these times it is very hard to find proper drivers, trustworthy drivers, there is a driver for you to drive the car of your life as you leave this summer class: a good one, faithful, who knows every repair and every kind of mechanism. Take Him with you as your driver, and surely, without any trouble of any kind to your cars or to your lives, you can surely carry on the journey of your life safe and well. On any road at all, He drives without an accident. Even if nuts and bolts give way anywhere along the way, He takes them out then and there. So there is one thing you must learn and take away, the most important of all. In that age Arjuna took Kṛṣṇa as the driver of his life; if today all of you students take Sai as your driver, you will surely be blessed, you will surely be fulfilled. Sai means this: the One who gives help, He alone is Sai.
