The scriptural desires relate to acquiring scholarship in scriptures and earn a name for himself as the omniscient. Such a person, out of his greed for name and fame wastes his energies in unproductive pursuits, not realising the purpose of life. He lacks in practical knowledge and indulges in mere pomp and show. Unable to realise the truth that the essence of all is (purity of consciousness), such a person would try to exhibit his theoretical knowledge in various disciplines.
