In plain words
“Good times, high office, a good life: these are what men keep asking for; good thoughts, Jñāna, good conduct they will not ask for. What more than this can I make known?” “Saying is easy and doing is hard, even for the Creator, even for the Creator's grandfather; doing is better than saying. This is the plain truth I am telling you.”
Embodiments of the sacred Ātma!
Today is the holy festival of Ugādi: farewell to the year that has gone, and to the year that has come, a welcome with an offering of flowers. Our longing is that in this year of Siddhārthi our time and our duty may bear their fruit. Our prayer is that the new spring may give the whole world, all that moves and all that does not, long life, health and good thoughts. Some sweet experiences of the year gone by, and some sorrows of it, still keep stirring in the mind. These experiences teach us fine lessons. If each of us looks back over the year gone by, we will see how much of that time went to serve our selfishness and how much was put to use in service. Today man has made some progress in the physical world and in science, but morally he has fallen.
