In plain words
Since we have come in as Bal Vikas gurus with such feelings, we must make the right effort to clear away, by our efforts, something of this thing called Ajñāna that has covered the country from time without beginning, and to reveal the principle of the divine Ātma. For four years now we have been working as Bal Vikas gurus. But we must make the effort to discuss at this meeting what result has come to us from this work, and to make the fitting rearrangements and changes for it. The gurus too must form into groups, weigh their own experiences, work out the changes these call for, and we must reach a decision at this meeting.
We must also give some thought to this: by following what kind of path shall we be those who sought the growth of the students, the growth of the country and the welfare of society? We must also consider what conduct, taught to them, will let them give a secure life in the future. So we must believe that teachers are simply ideal lights for the country. If one student goes wrong, only he himself can be ruined. If one teacher goes wrong, many hundreds have the chance to be ruined. Teachers must stand like a “guide post”. In giving such students the right ideal they must keep a steady mind. A “guide post” that idly turns this way and that, that way and this, misleads. A “guide post” must stand firm and point out the direction clearly to others. We who are teachers must develop a steady feeling, an unselfish heart, and the Prema that rids itself of narrow ill intent. We must develop Bhakti and prapatti too. Whatever we do, we must think of it as offered to God and do it so. So we must set about filling our hearts with the divinity of the Lord of all, who pervades everything, and making it reach the hearts of the students. With such lofty feelings and noble ideas we must set about proclaiming our guruhood to the world. Gurus like you, who do selfless service though no result comes of it, are needed by the world today more than ever. Though no result comes into your hands, the great result called God's grace will come into your hands. Today, because teachers who chase only after salaries have grown so many, things have come to a state where selfless teachers cannot be recognised. You must teach the students:
Leave the madness that learning is only for degrees; never set out on a servant's calling; thinking of the country's good fortune, matchless, you must pass your life in this much greatness.
Rather than carry heavy degrees on your head and suffer still more weight, you must fill the heart with the highest Prema. It is not a matter of merely filling the head with learning. We must not lead a life that crams into the head every subject in the world and is left bewildered. There are also bold ones who have become greatly learned and have earned money by thousands upon thousands, by lakhs upon lakhs, in this world!
