In plain words
In some wells in the villages there is fluorine. From drinking that water, people's legs, arms and bones are bending. Our scientists must do research into how to remove this fluorine. They must find out what chemicals to add to purify this water and make it fit to drink. Today a sugar factory is being set up inside every person. It is because insulin does not develop inside that this sugar develops. We should regard how to prevent it as a service to be studied, in some measure, in Human Development. We must keep growing such broad thoughts. Besides this, our economic conditions today are sinking a great deal. We say that this economic problem is pulling the whole world down. No harm comes to us from this economic problem. Only when we turn our moral and spiritual decline round into progress will it all come right; otherwise all of education will go to ruin. Besides this, students must also recognise well and act upon small matters such as why water cannot be found in this earth. Now the rain falls. Through it the water slowly, gradually sinks down. The water that soaked into the earth over a whole year our people pump out in a single hour. Going down is very slow, and taking out is very fast. So we must keep the difference between these two well in mind. In another ten or twenty years there will be no water to be had anywhere in Rāyalasīma. Such a state of things is coming. The reason is that this government, empty of the power to think, has borewells sunk wherever one looks. Why? They want votes. To satisfy the people, there are borings and more borings wherever one looks in the villages. So all our teachers must make a proper effort to teach students such matters of daily life, and take a large part in village development. We must develop each and every village too.
