Passage 23

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

The parents will be very glad. And those parents, too, will keep their children under control as far as they can. We have taken this decision to solve all these problems and set the students on the right path. There will be the means to keep the children under proper control. "If you do not behave properly we shall send you away; we take nothing from you. Be ready to receive from us," we shall tell the students. In saying this the management has no other motive. Do not develop any bad feelings towards the management. Keep sacred feelings. Believe firmly in the truth of how cleanly, how selflessly, how purely the management is working, with a vow of service to others in so many forms, and then do well the duties you have to do. All of you know this; the Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar and the others must have told you. Somehow they are sending us all the UGC grants. You think they are paying the salaries. Who knows when they will give, but those grants have not come in properly so far. It is the management alone that is paying everyone's salaries and allowances. Many do not know that. They are not sending anything regularly. You know how things are with the government. Every month (there is nothing to hide from you; what is Mine is yours, what is yours is Mine) the expense comes to five lakhs. Only yesterday I.J. Naidu took three and a half lakhs for chemicals for the laboratory. So we have no concern at all about money. I ask you to use it well and happily, pass it on to the children rightly and make them into students who are an example; I hope that you will grow in the enthusiasm to develop this further and put all your work to good use without counting the hours; and blessing you, I bring My talk to a close.

One more small matter. There are Ph.D. students in every field: Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Mathematics.
