Passage 11

In plain words

However the men wandered about, the women stayed at home, offered the prayers and pūjās fitting to the time, and lived with reverence and devotion, humility and good manners. Because things went on this way, this culture has stood until today, unbroken and unmoved. But today, because there is so much learning, knowledge has fallen into ruin, Viveka has become empty, and people do not perform properly the duties they ought to. This is not right. One can earn money. Can we earn virtue? We must think that only when we have earned virtue have we earned true wealth. Money comes and goes, Morality comes and grows. We must keep this as our aim.

The path of morality, Dharma and the spiritual is man's very life

Only when there is morality and honesty is God pleased. God, too, is not pleased with a man without morality and honesty. Only when we love many others will many others love us. The Paramātma loves those who love the people. So, recognising the truth that everything is in this principle of Prema, we must be with humility and obedience, without hatred towards anyone, with Prema: "adveṣṭhā sarvabhūtānām." Life must have honour. Born as human beings, having studied, if we sell our lives cheap in the bazaar, where is the special worth of humanness? Beasts, birds and animals may go astray at certain times, but at other times they keep to the right path. But today man does not see such a right path at any moment. Among them, the educated develop an excessive freedom and try to roam the bazaars. This is not what human beings should do. It is because of this that injustice, Adharma, Asatya and evil ways have spread in the world today and the country is rotting in many ways. The boys and girls of today are the right ones to protect it properly. They must take a vow to protect this culture through sacred paths, divine feelings and resolves, and strive to grow humility and devotion to God along with their learning.
