In plain words
We must not think it enough that the moment somehow passes. We must spend the time we pass as something sacred, precious, divine, noble and fruitful. We eat today the crop that was sown before. The crop that comes tomorrow we shall eat the day after. The seed sown before is the plant of today. What comes on the plant today is tomorrow's fruit. Both the fruit of the future and the fruit of the past are in the present. It is what you have eaten that brings a belch, not what you are about to eat! All that we experience today is the result of the past. All that we are saying today is the path to the future! The royal road to the future is the present! All boys and girls must lay a royal road to the future.
"Tyāgenaike amṛtatva mānasuḥ"
All our teachers must become examples. It is because there are not today teachers who are examples and students who can build a royal road that Bhārata, though a spiritual country, a land of action and a land of sacrifice, is turning, as the result of today's learning, into a land of enjoyment. That is the disease that has come upon us. The day we desire enjoyment, disease follows at once as its reflection. The day we perform karma as sacrifice, yoga comes as its reflection. "Tyāgenaike amṛtatvamānasuḥ." We must take up this sacrifice to some extent, take part in service to society, honour our mother and father, make them happy, and try to give them the satisfaction of the Ātma. Girl students! Your blood, your food, your head are your parents' gift. You must not forget it. If you cannot satisfy your mother and father through them, what is this head for? What is this blood for? What is this food for? We must make fruitful the blood they gave. We must make the head pure. We must dedicate the food to service.
