In plain words
So we must not be like living corpses. We must be such that even in death we are like the living. We must win such a nearness to Satya. We must grow such sacred character. Without character a man is no man at all. That, at least, we must grow. Even if life goes, we must earn a good name. The crow caws, "kāvu, kāvu". The cuckoo sings; the cuckoo has put no crown on our head. The crow has not stolen our property. If the mouth is good, the village becomes good. So we must keep our mouths good. We must live with good words. Only then will girl students of strength and ability grow in our institution. This is greatly needed by the country.
Do not fear the world; serve the Lord of the world
It is enough if, for having joined our college, you try to practise even one or two things.
The people of the world are crows. They may say all sorts of things. They may say, "At the Sathya Sai College they turn them into devotees, they turn them into sādhus." But if one wants such sādhus, such sannyāsīs, such pure souls, they are not easily found. "Ūraka rāru mahātmulu", they have said in the Bhāgavatam. So does the nature of great souls come for nothing! There must also be the merit of past births. If the crows caw, does the cuckoo stop its song? It does not stop, does it? When the cuckoo sings its songs loudly, the cawing of the crows stops. So we need not fear the world. Do not fear the world; serve the Lord of the world. You must take up the divine principle. God alone is the support of everything! God alone is also what is supported! God alone is the goal! God alone is the means!
