Embodiments of Prema!

"Tasmai namaḥ karmaṇe" is a saying of the Upaniṣads. Whether we bow to anyone or not, we must bow to the karma we do. The reason is that the whole of man's life rests on karma. In the Bhāgavatam too

By karma the jīva is born, by karma it grows, by karma it dies; karma is man's god, karma is the cause of joy and sorrow in this world:

so it has been said. So before every karma we do we must first bow: "O karma! Have me do the highest karmas, karmas that help, sacred karmas": so we must pray.

As the karma we do, so the births we gain

It is by karma that we may even attain the presence of God. For man to reach the highest state, or to fall to the lowest, karma alone is the cause. It is karma that gives man his birth. As the karma we do, so the births we gain. As the place we come to, so the fruit we reap. So our own karma is the root cause of good company or bad company, of virtues or vices. Every man who sees a snake either kills it or catches it and sends it off to some distant place.
