In plain words
Offer your heart to God at least once a day
Even God, to help you, to aid you, to stand by you or to protect you, keeps in view to some extent the karma you have done. If you do not do some little good, God cannot give good to you. It was only when Kucela, his childhood friend, offered a handful of beaten rice that Kṛṣṇa gave him enjoyment and fortune. Only when we offer God something, however small, a leaf, a flower, a fruit or water, does He give many kinds of fruit for it. Whatever you give to God, God gives back to you many times over. So, whatever else you do or do not do, it is most necessary to try at least once a day to give God your heart, your mind, your feelings and your principle of Prema.
Whatever God does, He does keeping certain reasons in view
Draupadī was a great devotee. She was a sister dear to Kṛṣṇa as His own self. Always "Kṛṣṇa! Kṛṣṇa!": she made that Name dance on her tongue. Such a devotee was put to shame in the Kaurava court. Even at that time she prayed to Kṛṣṇa alone. "O dweller in Dvārakā! O You who roam in Bṛndāvana!": so she prayed to Him in many ways. But however many times she prayed, Kṛṣṇa did not grant His grace. He gave no darśan. "When I am being shamed in this great assembly, is it just for You to stay silent and not protect me? Though I am Your sister, does it please You that the wicked Kauravas bring such dishonour on me?": so she questioned Him in many ways. Kṛṣṇa was listening to her prayer. Kṛṣṇa was considering whether she had done Him any service before, for which He might now give her the unending garments. Only if one has done in the past some act that fits the occasion does Kṛṣṇa too come to one's help on that occasion. He thought it over. A fine occasion came to His mind.
