In plain words
Truly, will one who has tasted Your Ānanda, the principle of Your Prema, the Ānanda of Your heart, long for anything else? So I have tasted Your Ānanda in full. I have drunk deep of the nectar of Your Prema. I have merged in Your nectar. I want no more of the stench of this world. In this way he poured out before Rāma all the anguish that was in him.
Tyāgarāja said the same in another form. His feeling too took just this path: renouncing the world, choosing the Paramātma and so crossing over. "Seeing others, I sank somewhat into envy. Seeing the wealth of others, I pined away. It is not that I did not know all these to be vices. Root out these feelings, make my heart pure and enter it fully, Rāma!": so he went on praying. All sādhakas went on doing their sādhanas for the purification of their minds. They went on searching. "I cannot stay away from You for a single moment more. So take me into Yourself and make me one with You": so this Tyāgarāja prayed.
Without You my mind will not stay still, Śrī Hari, for how great is the beauty You hold for my eyes! (Without You…)
Eyes that have seen You cannot look at any other thing. A life that has tasted Your Ānanda does not long at all for any other joy. Keeping such sustaining feelings in his heart, Tulasīdās: "Rāma! I am unworthy. But in one thing alone I am worthy," he said. "I am the servant of the tulasī, who is Your servant. That is why I got the name Tulasīdās. In this one thing alone I am worthy. For I served the tulasī with all my heart. If You do not wish to take me as Your servant, take me at least as the servant of servants," he said.
I must become the servant of servants; I must serve these servants.
So to tell all about Tulasīdās would take some years. However much is told, it does not grow less. It does not run dry. It is not stuffed in from outside. It wells up from the heart. So, that God is all beauty, that there is nothing in this world more lovely than He, that no treasure in this world is to be seen greater than His presence, that no Prema in this world is to be found beyond His Prema, that nothing has any taste for one who has drunk the nectar of Prema, that all these worldly desires pass in a moment: keeping these five or six sentences safe in his heart, this Tulasīdās went on building up his Rāmāyaṇa upon them.
