In plain words
We must go on proving it through practice alone. Otherwise, without practice, however much we publicise and preach, the time is wasted. The money is wasted.
Within our own rules too, we have said, ceiling on desires. In it too: do not waste time, do not waste money. We must not enter into show for ten people's praise. There is no room to swell with pride that we have given training to so many thousands, to all those thousands. Of so many thousands, how many have turned out? Good people, for us? Even if there is no one from outside, never mind. We must turn out well, at least in our own eyes. That self satisfaction must come to us. When there is no self satisfaction, where then will self realisation come to us? So first of all, for this self satisfaction, we must develop self confidence. So human values are in us, not outside. Only by the effort of doing and showing others can we change things, to any extent. Otherwise, if we needlessly say too much and cannot do it ourselves, we will have to experience the very opposite path as well.
A crore they can talk of; not one do they do; saying is easy, doing is hard, be it for the Creator or for the Creator's grandfather.
So we must get the right training in showing by doing rather than in saying. So first of all we must develop human values. We must fully subdue the attachment and hatred in us. Here, take care to give no room at all to envy or to show. Carry out your duty well. Whatever duty you have taken up, you must try to do it wholeheartedly. You are a teacher. You must do the work of teaching so that your heart is satisfied. We must not go along leaning only on the hours, with the thought, “From nine in the morning till four in the evening, off to college, off to school.” Has our teaching reached the children properly or not? We must ask them, not once but twice, whether they have understood it the right way or not, and satisfy them fully. Instead, you must not live an artificial, lifeless life, saying, “If he listens, let him listen; if he passes, he passes; if he fails, he fails; my duty is done.” You must teach as a man with a heart. Today, in the world, governments too are carrying out the protections needed.
