In plain words
To be joined with Kṛṣṇa is itself our principle of Mukti. We do not long for separation even for a moment, because we are His very reflections. On this very basis the great sayings of the Vedas, Tat tvam asi, Prajñānaṃ brahma, Ayamātmā brahma, Ahaṃ brahmāsmi, have been bearing witness. All these great sayings have been showing the oneness: "This is oneself; oneself is this very thing."
Mankind, unable to understand oneness at all, today fosters separateness, forgets divinity, and falls into troubles of many kinds in the life of the jīva. Divinity can be seen in beasts, in cattle, in birds and the rest. Divinity is in every atom, in every worm and insect. Tyāgarāja described it as being in the ant and in Brahmā. But we are not experiencing such sacred oneness. We repeat it in words alone, but in action we come to nothing. That is why our life is beset with problems of many kinds. Faith is not deep. We want God only when a need comes. Once the need is met, we have no use for God. This is just like eating food when we are hungry. This hunger is not ended merely by eating. As long as we live, there is hunger. So, in just this way: punarapi jananaṃ punarapi maraṇaṃ. When will we attain the immortality beyond birth and death, we who have given our life over to the space between birth and death in this way? So the thing we must recognise today is this: there is oneness between divinity and the state of the jīva, and we must recognise that truth. Without believing this truth and without practising this truth, however many kinds of sādhana we perform, we cannot reach the goal we must reach. To try to search in some other place while everything is within us is the first mark of Ajñāna. To keep the Kāmadhenu in the backyard and go to the house next door for milk: what folly! Only one who cannot recognise the nature of the Kāmadhenu sets about such acts.
While a lamp is burning in every house, why go to the house next door for fire?
While that divine light, that supreme light, that unbroken light, that non-dual light is within us, we run after some petty lights, crane our necks, and give our life over to them.
