In business houses, in factories, in offices, they do not begin the work of the day with prayer and with a calm mind. That is why, from daybreak until they lie down at night, everyone lives in unrest, with agitation in the mind. So every man, before he carries out his duties, must take up prayer as a most necessary weapon. Here sound waves spread out very widely. This itself is the natural atmosphere. Such sound waves join with electric waves and pass from an impermanent level to a permanent level. Through this they reach a state full of light. From this very light electric power begins. Resting on this electric power, sounds have the scope to work wonders of every kind. One single person has the power to delight crores of people in different places, in many ways, by one and the same sound. It is like this: in Delhi a man is broadcasting a programme over Ākāśavāṇī. Without any change, in different countries, in different regions, in crores upon crores of homes, everyone takes in that man's sound waves just as though he himself were speaking. What is the reason for this? It is simply that the sound waves are merged in the electric waves! Joined with these electric fields, they spread out everywhere. Whether you listen or not, these sound waves are spread out everywhere all the same. Here is another example of this. Newton recognised the earth's power of attraction and made it known to the world. Even before he made it known, this earth had its power of attraction all along. In the same way, whether we listen through the radio or not, those sound waves are spread out everywhere, joined with electric power. In the same way the prayer we offer today goes forth as sound waves, joins with electricity and spreads everywhere, and it can give every opportunity for the peace of the country and for the prosperity of the country.
