In plain words

All books that tell of God are Bhagavad Gītās!

Embodiments of Prema! Without thinking in terms of difference, recognise the divinity called oneness, the essence of all religions, where all goals meet; only when you form the faith to live by it shall we have uplifted not only our own lives but the country as well. The Bhagavad Gītā does not belong to the people of Bhārata alone. It must not be confined in any way to one country, one time or one religion. We think the Bhagavad Gītā concerns the Hindu religion alone. That is a narrow view! We must recognise the truth that this holy book has spread through the world in keeping with time, karma, cause and duty. For all countries, for the followers of all religions, this Bhagavad Gītā is as dear as life. All books that tell of God are Bhagavad Gītās! Saying that the Koran is the book of the Muslims, that the Bible belongs to the Christians alone, that the Ādi Granth belongs to the Sikhs alone, and so building on books alone, people lose their unity and their divinity, grow differences with one another in many ways, and, divided, unable to recognise their own divinity, they waste their lives. They cannot recognise the truth that not even half a moment of precious time should be wasted. Many philosophers in many languages have commented on this Bhagavad Gītā in many ways, and are spreading it in many ways. Though the preaching and teaching of the Bhagavad Gītā has spread over the whole world, it is not seen in practice at all. Preaching and teaching that take the form of practice are what is most urgently needed today. The Bhagavad Gītā is not merely a book for recitation; it is to be practised. This morning one of the swamis spoke about it in many ways.
