In plain words

These sins can then no longer waste away. Our birth does not reach its purpose.

Next, vikṣepa. Vikṣepa means unceasing restlessness. That is, the mind and the body both keep moving without ceasing. When the body moves, the mind moves too. When this tumbler moves, the water inside moves too, see. If this tumbler is steady, this water too is steady. So our body is like a vessel. This is what they call a ghaṭa. If it keeps moving about as it pleases, the mind becomes even more of a monkey. On top of that it grows still greater. If we are to put this vikṣepa away from us, we must develop one-pointedness on something.

There is a little story about this. Rāmakṛṣṇa Paramahaṃsa used to do the worship of the Goddess in Rāṇi Rasamaṇi's house. Rāmakṛṣṇa sang well. His voice was very sweet. One day, when everyone was seated and Rāmakṛṣṇa was singing something, Mathuranāth too was there. Mathuranāth was Rāṇi Rasamaṇi's son-in-law. At that time Rāṇi Rasamaṇi made a request. “Rāmakṛṣṇa! Your singing gives great joy; sing once more and give me joy,” she said. He closed his eyes. Blissfully, in meditation on God, he began the singing of the Name. This Rasamaṇi and all the others gathered there kept nodding their heads, keeping time with the cymbals, acting out joy in every way. At once Rāmakṛṣṇa stopped the song, came straight up to Rāṇi Rasamaṇi and dealt her a hard slap on the cheek. He struck her. Everyone was greatly astonished. “What! She is the Rāṇi. He is one who works under her. He is giving her such a punishment; what is the reason? What for! Does some madness come over him now and then? What is this?” they kept wondering. Before any of them could ask, Rāmakṛṣṇa gave the answer. “You are sitting in a satsaṅga. What you asked for was that I sing. You are acting as though you are enjoying it. Your mind is on the hearing of a case in the High Court. The person here. The mind there. Body is present. Mind is absent. Why do you sit in a gathering like this? Get out,” he rebuked her. Then Rāṇi Rasamaṇi, recognising her fault: “Swami! This is the right medicine for this vikṣepa,” she said, and she was glad. That is the fault of vikṣepa. Sitting at bhajan. Doing the bhajan as if doing it. Striking the cymbals as if striking them. Thinking thoughts of everywhere else. Being sunk in doings everywhere else. Being like this is the sinful fruit of vikṣepa.

A lawyer. A very famous lawyer. At his house many clients were always coming and going. Someone came on some urgent case.
