In plain words
The earnestness and energy we have for worldly matters do not grow in spiritual matters. We want results we can see! But this is an unseen, higher excellence! We do not try to experience what is excellent, yet we go to endless pains for what is trivial. Whatever work you do in a way that is acceptable to Svāmi, it will surely come about. Kṛṣṇa came under the power of that devotee who said ‘Kṛṣṇārpaṇam’ when she ate and ‘Kṛṣṇārpaṇam’ when she swept the floor. We must not say Kṛṣṇārpaṇa with the mouth alone. Some people set up a tape recorder to say ‘Kṛṣṇārpaṇam, Kṛṣṇārpaṇam’! The fruit goes to the tape recorder. How will it come to them? We must do nothing artificially. Many people pay money and have pūjās done in temples. This is a great fault. Those who do the pūjā do it for the money. That fault comes to us. It is enough if we do it properly at home, with all our heart.
