In plain words

It is also called the Bhramara Gītā. The knower of Brahman becomes Brahman. Whatever we keep thinking of, that form we attain.

So today, as a special symbol of lighting the lamp of the Ātma, we lit a lamp. You do not understand well what the lamp is about. You must feel that today you have lit the lamp of your heart. From today on, try to drive away to some extent the evil feelings, the evil deeds, the attachments and hatreds that are in you. As long as they are in your heart, you are not human beings at all. The shape alone is a human shape; the nature is demonic. So we must try to drive away this demonic nature and this animal nature, and take shape as true humanity.

Our institution of learning is not only for studying one kind of learning. Spiritual learning too must be part of learning. That is why in the Gītā it was said, ‘Of learnings, the learning of the Ātma.’ All the learning we study is like some rivers. But spiritual learning is like the ocean. The ocean is the goal of the rivers. All these rivers flow into the ocean. So all the learning we study we must dedicate to spiritual learning.

Students! First of all we must keep the principle of speech under control. Talking too much is not good. What happens through all this talking? Our memory power goes down. Energy is wasted. Not only this: weaknesses of certain kinds set in. Old age comes very soon. So the more you keep your words under control, the more strength and ability we will have gained. There is a radio. If we switch that radio on for an hour and hear all its news, how many units of current will have been wasted in that hour? In the same way, our body is a radio. Our words are the news. In this news comes a lot of nuisance. All the energy that is in us is wasted. In our words, in our looks, in our thoughts, in our hearing, through all the senses our energy is being wasted. So even as man grows and grows, he does not become strong. He becomes weak. What is the reason? The body grows, but the span of life shrinks. That is why our ancestors all kept the vow of silence. By it they would increase their memory and their intelligence. Through that intelligence they would increase their power to examine the eternal and the passing. Children today forget by morning what was in the book they read at night. The reason is that we misuse our energy through this talking and this listening. Because of this we are unable to reach divinity. That is why our looks, our hearing, our words and our deeds must be put into right work and right matters.
