After he had gone some distance there was a sound. He turned and looked back. A dog was following Dharmaja, never leaving him. Dharmaja too fainted. At that very moment the gate of heaven came into view. The gatekeepers asked, ‘Dharmaja! You are truly the very form of Dharma. You have taken on the very shape of Dharma. But once you told the lie ‘Aśvatthāmā hataḥ kuñjaraḥ’ and brought your guru to despair. So you will have to suffer hell for some time,’ they said. But Dharmaja did not grieve over that.
