In plain words

For this very mind has the power to turn humanness into divinity. Man needs sādhana. ‘By sādhana, tasks come to pass on earth.’ Practise makes a man perfect. In this sādhana, which is the easy path? The path of karma, the path of Jñāna, the path of yoga: the essence of them all is the path of Bhakti. All good qualities are contained in Bhakti itself.

Faith is the foundation of humanness

What is dhyāna? ‘Concentration is Meditation,’ they say. No, no. Concentration is a way of life. Without concentration we can do no work at all. To walk on the road you need concentration; to drive a car you need concentration, or there will be an accident. Concentration is below the senses. How does this work? A small example. We are reading a letter, or writing a letter. At the time of writing and reading, how many senses are we using? We hold the paper with one hand. We look with the eyes. We write with the other hand. We think with the mind. We weigh it with the Buddhi. Only when we use all these senses, the eyes, the hands, the mind and the Buddhi, and concentrate, are we able to finish that letter. So concentration is below the senses, meditation is beyond the senses. Between these two there is a border. That border is contemplation. From concentration we must enter contemplation, and from contemplation reach meditation. We sit for an hour, but for how many seconds did the mind stay still? Unable to hold the mind steady, we sit and waste time. So the dhyāna done today is not true dhyāna. Dont waste time. Time waste is life waste. So, instead of wasting the time you spend trying to restrain the mind, do sacred karma. What is sacred karma?
