In plain words
Bhārata worships even animals: the cow, the horse, the elephant and the rest. Bhārata strives to nourish even ants, scattering sugar and flour for them. To crows, kites, dogs and monkeys too Bhārata … as worship of God, and honours them as well.
But fools who cannot recognise this sacred secret think that Indians are superstitious. No, no. With the broad feeling that God's Prema should not be confined to man alone, that God's Prema should be shared out among all living beings too, Bhārata holds out this kind of ideal in such a spirit. In no country can we find such social justice as that of the Indians. No country has grasped the secret of this wisdom. … this Bhārata is filled with such a sacred spiritual gem and with broad, divine feelings. That is why the Upaniṣads too say adveṣṭā sarvabhūtānām: hate no one; whoever you oppose, you become one who opposes God. Whoever you hate, it is as though you have hated God. To whomever you bow, it reaches only the Paramātma, who dwells in them as the inner Self. The ignorant who cannot recognise such sacred Indian culture have been treating it as unbelief and as foolishness. The sacredness, the selflessness and the divinity of the Indians no one else at all can grasp. The divine, sacred culture of Bhārata the Indians themselves cannot grasp.
Bhārata has also been proclaiming the truth that though names and forms are different, the principle of the Ātma within them is … . This whole of Prakṛti is only the reflection of the Paramātma. No one can break its law; no one can overstep the secret of this Prakṛti. Man does not try to recognise such a divinity, whose form is Satya, whose form is purity, whose form is the eternal. Man, who came to recognise his own principle, gives no thought at all to the secret of the world, and roams only among things and vehicles, only among the ties of the senses. He cannot recognise the truth that this body of the five elements is passing and unreal. Man's belly is a heap … filled with excreta and urine. Taking such a passing, impermanent body as our support, we must recognise the principle of the Ātma, which is eternal Satya. The body is only like an iron safe. The jewels put in this iron safe are of great worth. Not recognising the precious jewels kept in it, we set our hearts on the iron safe as the chief thing. These precious jewels, good qualities, good ways, good conduct and good thoughts, are kept safe in this body made of excreta, urine, stench, flesh and blood.
