In plain words

Such fondness! Such deep love! Six months went by in this way. Then they were walking on another beach. There too, poor fellow, a thorn appeared. But that anxiety is not in him now. 'There is a thorn there; take care,' he said. Another six months went by in the same way. After a year, they were setting out on another road. There too, poor fellow, he saw a thorn. As she was walking, he said, 'Can't you see? There are thorns!' How loving he was when they were newly married; and by the time a year had passed, how this love had changed! That is the difference between this love of Prakṛti and the Prema of Paramātma.

The Prema of Paramātma is full of amṛta. It has neither waning nor waxing. That is 'Pūrṇamadaḥ pūrṇamidaṃ pūrṇātpūrṇamudacyate'; that itself is full. That alone is wholly full. It is for such full Prema that we must strive; we need not strive for this love that belongs to the world and give our lives over to sorrow. Yet we must carry out our duty. As long as the body lasts, we must love all. This is not possible for everyone. We need not despair because it is not. If we keep on making some effort or other, we can surely reach that state. If an ant is willing to walk, it walks a distance of miles. If an eagle is unwilling to fly, it cannot go forward even an inch. So, developing the power of will in us, we must make the proper effort to win the Prema of God and to stay in the presence of God. Only then does our life become blessed. The body given to us becomes fruitful.

Embodiments of Prema! We must believe that we should offer our body, our karmas and our time too to God and take part in service, and that service itself is the service of God. We must win the treasure that is eternal. To serve God is true Prema; to offer one's service to Prakṛti is Prema. To serve Him who dwells in all is Prema. God is closer than anyone. He is a friend closer than anyone. You who should be winning such a friend run away from Him and take shelter with friends who look on with passing glitter and glamour. Who are your friends? In this world, in these times, in today's conditions, we see no true friends at all. Have you some money in your pocket, is your father in a good position of power, a minister's position: everyone comes to you saying, 'Hello, hello.' No money in your pocket, your father not to be seen in any position: nobody will say even good bye.
