In plain words
As long as there is water in the pond, thousands of frogs come and gather there. But once the water dries up, not a single frog is to be seen there. Today's friends are just like that. But God alone is the true friend: He stays with you, beside you, in your home, before your eyes, and He never leaves you at any time. So believe that God alone is the true friend, and try to follow Him. That itself is the true royal road to the path that makes life fruitful. Make your time fruitful through the remembrance of the Name. Make your body fruitful through service that helps others. Seeking the good of others, for the welfare of the world, strengthen in yourselves at all times the resolve 'Lokāssamastā sukhino bhavantu'. Only then does purity of thought, word and deed come about. This purity of thought, word and deed is the right state for reaching Paramātma. So utter the Name more and more. Do not waste time needlessly. Time is the very form of God. As far as you are able, take up works that help others. There is no sādhana truer than this, no pūjā holier than this. You need not bring photographs of the infinite Paramātma, frame them, put them in your pūjā room and worship them. Place that Paramātma in your heart and worship Him there. Through these outward pūjās, some day or other we may come to grief.
Mīrā was a supreme devotee. In all the world she saw no one at all but Kṛṣṇa. But in her there was one noble hope. She longed to have her Kṛṣṇa shaped as a Kṛṣṇa of marble, build a small temple for it, install her Kṛṣṇa in that temple, and keep Ānanda there through singing of her Kṛṣṇa twenty-four hours a day. Yet who is to build this temple! This is beyond me! Will my hope be fulfilled? 'Will I be able to enjoy it in my lifetime?': the doubt kept coming to her. But at one time the Mahārāṇā came. The Mahārāṇā wished to marry Mīrā. But she, taking what marriage means for a game with dolls, kept her chief goal before her own eyes. He is a great man; he is a rich man. 'If I marry him, who knows, my wish may be fulfilled; I could build a marble temple, install a marble Kṛṣṇa, and make my life blessed with the Name of Kṛṣṇa at all times': with that goal she married the Mahārāja. Because she had become a slave to that hope, she was caught in a trap. After some time had passed, because she acted against his wishes, the Mahārāja told her to get out of the palace. The moment he told her to get out, it was like a shock to her.
