Passage 8

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

If we do not see evil, do not hear evil, do not think evil, but go on seeing only good, that itself is the way to divinity.

So, through being like this, through wasting all our energy, the power of memory is going, the power of intelligence is going, the power of the intellect is going, and the power to grow is going too. That is why discrimination itself has become nil in man today. Then how can the power of action come in? You may have some doubt about how this is wasted. There is a radio. We tune that radio to some station or other and listen to the news. Turn its sound up or turn it down; just leave it on, and some units of current are spent. In the same way our body is like a radio. Whether you speak with your mouth or think in your mind, all that you have turned over within is just as good as wasted. Because it is working there. It is on. Right up to the time you fall asleep you are worrying about something or other. How pleasant it would be if, instead of thinking these bad thoughts, you thought good thoughts! So by brooding in this way and going into action, you are wasting your divine energy. So they named it "ceiling on desires", telling us to live keeping all four of these under control to some extent. But those who serve today are not doing it this way. With the idea that this was begun in the Sai organisations for the sake of money, they give money and slip out of it; by just such a trick they are wasting their lives. The Sathya Sai organisations have never at any time wanted this. It was so that you might show the world an ideal life that these organisations were begun. So we must live in an ideal way and become the best of the best, who give an ideal to others. So we must try to change gradually in the ways of our mind. In the Sai organisations no room must be given to differences of caste and creed.

Embodiments of the divine Ātma! Morality is more important than our caste. Rather than our religion, we must try to increase affection. What use is it for one without affection to increase his religion? This religion is ruining the mind. Our religion is one: the religion of man. What is our morality? Prema is morality. We must develop this principle of Prema, show morality and honesty as an ideal, and try to lead our fellow men on to the right path.
