In plain words
In this way I do not let go of even a little blank paper. I economise even on that. This is what I do; yet if it is needed, I will give lakhs and crores of money. If I know it is not needed, I will dig in My heels over a single naya paisa. Why? It is not that I am reluctant to give money. My view is that misusing it is a great wrong. It is evil. That is why misuse of money is evil. No one should misuse money in this way. Above all, in our Institute you must be careful. Neither the Government, Central or State, gives salaries to any of our teachers. Where one or two have been appointed, they give for three years, but after three years they do not give. They are not giving either. Even that does not come regularly. But I Myself give to every lecturer and every professor. I cause them no shortage or difficulty of any kind. We give them these salaries properly, according to the scale. In giving in this way I do not hold back over anything; but in some matters I will not put up with even one rupee being wasted.
In some colleges they order in all sorts of useless papers. If you pick up such a magazine, it is all disgusting. They order in all magazines of this kind. If these children are monkeys to begin with, give them magazines like these and they will turn into hill monkeys. That is why I take care even in every small matter. Newspapers come for the children. What kind of papers come? I keep talking to the professors about whether they are put to good use or not. “Sir! Are you making any use of the newspaper that comes to you? Are you reading it or not? Are the children reading it or not? If you and the children do not read it, stop that newspaper. If it is of some use, then get it.” That is what I keep telling them.
