Then what is special about teachers? They must try to teach what life is.
They must teach human values. They must try to recognise what life is. That is why teachers too must live out for themselves what life is, and work to teach it to the students. Students today do not study for the sake of learning. They study for the high posts that learning brings. That is not true learning. We must study the learning that broadens one's own Ātma-tattva. So by studying the learning of today we too are becoming slaves to the senses.
That is why today, in the world, all the deeds that ought never to happen are happening. Though learned, they behave like beasts. What is the root cause of this conduct, which lacks the power to discern? It is not for want of learning. For want of control of the senses they fall into such deeds as these. We must set ourselves to the effort of keeping the mind and the senses under control. We must win a mind that never wavers in any way, in any circumstances, and a vision that is never deluded. This is found only on the spiritual path. Without the spiritual we can gain no kind of Ānanda. The whole world is filled with the spiritual alone. We fall into such sorry states only because we break these rules and this discipline.
Even in the paths of science we must try to recognise this spiritual path. There are planets. There are stars. They move at their own limited speed, within limited orbits. Without overstepping their places they do their duty. Truly, if these planets or stars went beyond their speed or left their places, the world would come to a terrible state. Who is it that laid out their orbits so well and rules them by these orbits, by this law? That is the divine power. You scientists learn that the earth has a force of attraction. If you let go of an object in the air, it comes down and falls. The falling object, the earth: these are seen, but the force of attraction that draws the object we do not see. Because it is not seen, is there no force of attraction? In the same way, how great is the divine power that we do not see!
