In plain words
‘The patience they have, you lack!’ he said. Thinking he had found them out, they ran away. In this way we should think how to manage such situations by ingenuity. True ingenuity too is a yoga for getting out of trouble. Yoga grows in us only on the spiritual path. Spirituality is vital.
Without faith in God we cannot achieve anything at all. So, whatever state Rāvaṇa came to by giving up God and relying on Prakṛti alone, the same result comes to those who forget God. Had he held the feet of Rāma and prayed, how far he would have risen in so many ways! Vibhīṣaṇa told him exactly this. ‘Brother, what has happened has happened. Even now, hand Sītā over and save your life and this Laṅkā,’ he told him. Sītā too gave Hanumān fine counsel. Do not try to stir and shift Prakṛti alone and carry it away. Hanumān entered the Aśoka grove, saw with his own eyes all the grief of Sītā's weeping, and was deeply pained. He leapt from the tree down to her feet. ‘Mother, you need weep no more. I am very strong. If you sit on my back, I will take you to Śrī Rāmacandra,’ he said. Then she thought it over. Hanumān is a devotee of Rāma. He is proving himself so great a devotee. But he has not yet understood the full Rāma principle, she thought. ‘I am the very form of Prakṛti. Sītā is the daughter of the earth. Hanumān! Rather than carry me off like this and bring me disgrace in the world, could you not seat Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa themselves on your back and bring them here? Rāma must be brought to Prakṛti; what is this of carrying Prakṛti to Rāma?’ she said. That is why we must draw Paramātma to the level of Prakṛti. Keeping the feelings of Prakṛti, we cannot go to Paramātma. Today we are going from Prakṛti into Paramātma. It is a mistake to teach that this is the path to Mukti. Develop the feeling that you have come from Paramātma into Prakṛti. Then the feeling of Paramātma itself will be yours. That is why I say again and again, You may worship a picture as God but not God as a picture.
Students! There are some people. Send it up, saying this handkerchief is God. This mike is God; send it up too. This chair too is God; send it up too. This is the right way; but do not pull God down by saying God is this handkerchief, God is this mike, God is this chair.
