In plain words

So you come wearing that garland. Here. So it is a necklace you yourselves have put on. It is not a necklace someone else put on you. So it is your duty to pray to God in order to settle such good and bad. In the old days, in the Tretā Yuga, all the rākṣasas lived on one side and all the devas on another. The rākṣasas lived in the Daṇḍaka forest and in Laṅkā. The devas lived in Ayodhyā and Kiṣkindhā. Because those were apart and these were apart, God incarnated to help the devas, to remove their troubles, to save them from the clutches of the rākṣasas; He stood by the devas as their aid, waged war with the rākṣasas, and went on winning victory. In the Tretā Yuga the devas lived apart and the rākṣasas apart. By the time it became the Dvāpara Yuga, the devas and the rākṣasas tried to live in one house. How? Devakī Devī was the very form of a deva. Her brother Kaṃsa was a rākṣasa. The Pāṇḍavas were the very forms of devas. The Kauravas were the very forms of rākṣasas. In this way, in one family, these devas and rākṣasas lived together. Then God cannot wage war. That is why Kṛṣṇa gave the Kauravas an army, and for the Pāṇḍavas He took on the charioteer's work, a work in which He Himself would not take up a sword. He laid down His weapons. My dear ones! Fight out your good and your bad by yourselves, and win the victory. I will be merely the witness. By the time the Kali Yuga began, these devas and rākṣasas had come to live in one and the same body. In the Tretā Yuga they lived in separate lands. In the Dvāpara Yuga they lived in one house. In the Kali Yuga they have lived in one body. So in every man the demonic and the divine have both been living together. So here too God is merely the witness. He goes on granting victory to each according to the strength of each one's duty.

The postman does his work in the same way. He goes on giving each person's letters to their addresses. He is only a witness. But there is one rule for the letters we write. However fine the writing we write, however beautiful the letters we form, however fine the paper we write on, and though we put it in a cover, if we do not write the address on top it all goes to waste. On the other hand, even if our letters are very ugly, letters that cannot be looked at or read, once you write the address on the cover it goes straight there.
