In plain words

For he was their only son. Well, they looked at a BA graduate. They took the boy. They showed the two of them to each other. The engagement took place. The boy came and told his friends, ‘My life is entire happiness.’ How happy he was! He was so happy. ‘The graduate girl I wanted is mine!’ The marriage took place. After 15 days. The girl came to their house. On the 2nd day he got up at daybreak and sat on the sofa. ‘My dear wife bring coffee for me,’ he said. She said. ‘I am a graduate you are a graduate why don't you prepare coffee for me.’ Then he said, ‘My life is full of darkness.’ Thus. How long did the happiness last? As long as things suit them, they say ‘happy’. When things go against what they like, they say ‘darkness’. So this has no connection at all with bliss. Bliss has no beginning no ending: no start and no end. In the ocean so many waves keep coming. One cannot say which is the beginning and which the ending. Wherever you begin to count, that is the beginning. Wherever you grow tired and stop, that is the ending. Apart from that, these waves have no beginning. For that which has no beginning, it is not possible to fix an ending. That which has neither start nor end is Ānanda. That is true Ānanda. It is within you alone. Keeping Ānanda within yourself, you try to search for it somewhere.

A small example. You went to sleep. After you fell asleep, you dreamt that you went somewhere for dinner. You dreamt that there, at the dinner, you ate all the dishes you like. You enjoyed yourself thoroughly. Then you went somewhere else. There you felt happiness, as though your heart's wish had been fulfilled. When you went to the dinner, you put on suit, boots, everything, and went. You dreamt that you enjoyed yourself there. But you saw nothing. You ate nothing. You wore no dress. Where did the Ānanda come from? That suit, those boots, that hat: all of them you imagined for yourself. All of them you yourself imagined. No one invited you to dinner. You yourself created yourself. In that dream. Who created you? It is all mind creation. The mind itself stood as the root cause of everything. Nobody there created anything separately. He created everything by himself. In sum, the inner meaning of this is that he creates sorrow and Ānanda by himself. The mind alone is the cause of man's bondage and liberation. How? There is a door. You put a lock on the door. You have a key with you. You took that key and put it into the lock. You turned it left side: it opened.
