In plain words
The life of a … is his signature. If there is no signature on a promissory note, its … . What is it worth? Sāvitrī is the very form of Satya. She is the very one who protects Satya. Now Sarasvatī. She is the form of the goddess of speech. Where has this Sarasvatī come from? What is this Sarasvatī's vehicle? What does haṃsa vāhinī mean? Can Sarasvatī sit on so small a bird? No. Haṃsa vāhinī means drawing in the air, Sohaṃ, and letting out the air, Haṃ. This is the haṃsa vāhinī. Its name is Sohaṃ, that is, Haṃsa Gāyatrī. Whatever word a man has to speak, he cannot speak it without the in-breath and out-breath. If My in-breath and out-breath are held tight, the word … does not come. The meaning is that Sarasvatī, who is speech, travels with this very swan of the in-breath and out-breath as her support. So in every man this speech is a most important form.
So, if you ask in what form God is, He is in eight forms. The first is water. God is the embodiment of water. We must not misuse it. We must not defile it. The second is air. We must take in only as much air as we need. If we take in too much, we swell up and die. We must not defile the air. The third is the earth. We must not misuse the earth either, as we please. It is the very form of God. It is the chief field for us to live in. If we spoil that field … , how can we live happily? When we are to sit on the holy, true earth, we spread a newspaper mat and sit on it. If it is dirty, how can you sit? So the earth is this mat, the seat, the throne. We must keep it in the right way. Wherever people live, they must keep cleaning the places they live in. We must not keep them unclean. We must clean them. The fourth is fire. We must not eat all sorts of rubbish just to still the hunger of this digestive fire. We must send it sāttvic food. We must send clean food within. We must send holy food within. When we make an offering to God, do we offer what has rotted and gone stale? Fresh: before you yourself eat it, before you yourself even touch it, offer it to God and then eat. First we offer it to Brahman and then we eat. If you offer God what is bad, you too will have to eat that very thing. If you ask how today's devotion and surrender … are: the show is for God, the feast is for him.
