In plain words

… . The kinds of flowers differ, the worship is one: divinity of this kind we must … to rise from our own heart. We need not go anywhere and search. We need … go off somewhere to see God. You, you yourself, are God. If we are to recognise such a principle, we must join satsaṅga. It is through that satsaṅga that we are able to recognise this Lordship over all. This is coal; this is a live ember. If the ember stays here and the coal stays here, the fire does not enter the coal. When we bring that coal close to the ember, fire enters the coal as far as it touches it. If, with the two together, we fan them with a hand-fan, that coal too turns into fire. So bringing close is near. Practising it is dear. Near and dear, the two: the knower of Brahman becomes Brahman itself. The two become one. … must join with divinity. We must draw near. It is in that nearness that divinity is gained.

Embodiments of Prema! We must attain this divinity through Prema alone. Without Prema we can achieve nothing. We cannot achieve even the smallest thing. Prema has three qualities. What are … three qualities? Prema does not fear. Prema is bold. This Prema asks for nothing else. It only gives; it does not take. This is divine Prema. Then the third: one must love for Prema's sake alone. One must not love for the sake of things. When one loves for the sake of things, it becomes worldly. We go to a shop and give five rupees: Sir! Give me a handkerchief, we say, and he takes the rupees. He flings that handkerchief in your face. After that, there is no bond between him and us. Since in this way each thing has its own price, it is only when we give something that we can receive from God. So we must give our heart. We must take Prema. If we are to attain divinity, we must give the principle of Prema. We must take purity. We must give away unrest. We must take peace and joy. We must give one thing and take another. If one says, I am ready only to take, not ready to give, how will that do? Only when we write a cheque against what we have deposited in the bank and hand it to the bank manager can we get money … from there.
