In plain words
Man does nothing but think and think, without a break. What form does this thinking take? What form does this worry take? What is the shape of worry? It is only mental created fear. It is through thoughts of the mind that we fall ill. We should not think at all. At times this thinking goes beyond its bounds. When it goes beyond its bounds, everything is thrown into disorder. Through it, to some extent, illnesses of the mind come too. This is the very reason madness arises in this world. We should think only as far as is needed. We should not think beyond the limit. We should think of what is needed only at the time it is needed. By needlessly thinking over what is past and what is to come, we fall ill. The young people of today fall prey to just these kinds of illness. When you make tests in university after university, 80% or 90%, all of them, are ill only through delusions of the mind. So at this age, this good and sacred age, we should not fall ill at all. As far as possible you must see that you cut down the brooding of the mind. Too much reading, too much playing, too much singing, or too much sleeping harms the body.
Not only this: we have been teaching four kinds within ceiling on desires. The first is: don't waste food. Why should we not waste it? Food is God. Our life is what has come from this food. This is a life made of food. This is a prāṇa that rests in food. So when we waste food, we become people who have wasted our own life. Next, don't waste money. Misuse of money is evil. Today the young spend in needless ways. It falls prey to bad habits. It leads into wicked ways. It brings many kinds of unrest. As far as at all possible, we must try to cut it down. This is not right. Our Bhārata is caught in many economic troubles. Only because selfishness has grown has a very low state come about in this economy.
