In plain words

This collar pin was lost so that the change might come. This itself is the change. On that very day I left home. This is a Māyā; that is, a thing of the world is itself a Māyā.

The day these things leave us, that itself is the passing of Māyā. That very day I went, and inside the house of Anjaneyulu there was a big boulder. I sat on that boulder. He was an excise commissioner. He too, whenever he saw Swami, felt something araci, a spiritual feeling he could not understand, welling up in him. His house was on the way. He used to make pakoḍīs or some such and keep them inside; he and his wife would be waiting, poor souls. Thinking that if the children were there they might take it amiss, they would send them inside. As soon as I came quietly in, they would hold My feet and bow down. 'Sir, you are an elder; you must not do this', I would tell them again and again. 'Raja! In this body I am the elder. But in Jñāna I am very small. You are Kṛṣṇa Himself.' So they would describe Me. Fearing that if they described Me so in front of everyone, edrainā would mock, they would call Me aside alone and say it. Many such things happened this October. That day I went nowhere. I did not go to school. At school I used to lead the prayer every day. There were steps, and it was like a platform.

That is, even then: what is this unity of all faiths? This boy is teaching the unity of all faiths! So the teachers would get annoyed, poor things. That day, because I did not go to school, a great worry began: 'Where is Raju? Where is Raju?' None of the children was at the prayer. They all came running to Anjaneyulu's house. I did not look at anyone. I just sat there. On a boulder.

Since the return from Hampi there had come a wandering of the mind. 'Has something happened at home, or what?': so the children kept guessing, each in his own way. I said, 'Take a photo of Me.' When the photo was taken, before Me was Shirdi Baba. In those days nobody knew who Sai Baba was. Now Anjaneyulu himself is standing in that crowd too. He is the Sathya Sai Organisation Chairman for the whole of our district. He too knows that photo. I told them to say the prayer and begin school. Meanwhile Seshama Raju sent off a telegram to Puttaparthi.
