In plain words
To this the Gītā gave another name, the śreyomārga. This śreyomārga is not something everyone understands. It is not within everyone's reach. That is why people cannot put much faith in such a śreyomārga. The preyomārga on one side and the śreyomārga on the other keep trying to turn the people of the world, each towards itself. But people who seek the joy of the senses go on wishing for this preyomārga alone. Only the jñānīs, who take no account of these physical pleasures and do not wish in the least for the pleasures of the world, impermanent and passing, who are steadfast and are seers and have gained a pure heart, wish for the śreyomārga.
There is yet another path too, beyond both śreyas and preyas. All desires are contained within this śreyas and this preyas. Beneath all the desires there are in the world, this śreyas and preyas flow as the chief undercurrent. The path called anapekṣa is the one beyond both of these. This anapekṣa means having no expectations at all. But this is not the right meaning. When, in all the karmas man does, he gives up the Ahaṅkāra that says, 'I am doing service', and the desire that says, 'I am enjoying', this turns into anapekṣa. When he gives up both, Ahaṅkāra in the doing and attachment in the experience, what is called anapekṣa takes shape. That is, only when he gives up the sense of being the doer and the enjoyer, in each and every karma man does, does it put on the form called anapekṣa. Only when he offers all karmas for the pleasure of God does it gain the form of anapekṣa. The person in whose heart such anapekṣa has arisen, God makes into His own universe. It is the person who has such anapekṣa that God loves. So, if we wish to be worthy of God's Prema, we must take part in services where all karmas are done for the pleasure of God. Whoever it is done for, wherever it is done, whenever it is done, we must do all of it with the feeling that it is offered to God.
Next, the second is śuciḥ. That is to say, it is cleanliness. There must be cleanliness within and without. Purity of the body belongs to the world. Making the body clean by bathing and the like, wearing clean clothes, seeing that the food one eats stays pure.
