In plain words
Because he found the way to turn this juice into sugar and put it into every dish to be enjoyed, Rāmānuja taught it as distinguished Advaita.
What is the sugar in this? That is Prema. Prema. Prema. When this sugar called Prema is mixed between husband and wife, they experience it simply as moha. Mixing this sugar between mother and child, they experience it as vātsalya. Putting this same Prema into objects, they experience it as icchā. Putting this same Prema into kin and friends, they experience it as anurāga. Turning this same Prema towards God, they experience it as Bhakti. Prema is the form of the sacred juice of Advaita. When we recognise this sacred, real form, there is no room for any doubt. This principle of Prema they turned along another path, into the form of yoga. This they came to call the principle of prāṇāyāma. It has been taking shape as the haṃsa gāyatrī: what is this haṃsa gāyatrī? So...ham. This is Soham. Taking in the air and letting the air go. The principle of these two is what they called the haṃsa gāyatrī. But in this Soham too there is duality. But when you enquire inwardly, as the air called So is taken in, the sound sa becomes silent. In the waking state, as the in-breath and out-breath go on, we say to ourselves, Soham, Soham. But in the state of sleep it does not sound as Soham. If you enquire into many who snore, they say Soham. When the sa goes from So, it becomes O. When the ha goes from ham, it becomes m. O + m = Om, and it becomes a single syllable. That is Om. Today everyone goes on doing prāṇāyāma. Everyone keeps on breathing in and breathing out. That is not true prāṇāyāma. We must take in what is sacred and good. We must draw it in. What we must let go of. We must let go of all the bad that is within. We must hold on to what we have taken in. Taking in is pūraka. Letting go is recaka. Holding is kumbhaka. This is what Vedānta has taught as true yoga. But no one at all pays heed to this true word of Vedānta. People believe that the yoga practices done in the physical body are what matter most. What is this body? Will everything done in it bring you divinity? You must do it in the mind. All this prāṇāyāma has nothing to do with the mind. It has to do only with the body.
