In plain words
Farewell and welcome
What have we achieved in the word “jīvitam”? We have achieved the “nought” at the end of the word “jīvitam”. That is the “zero”. This is not man's ideal. Man must nourish good qualities and win through. If a man wants to be virtuous, strong and joyful, he must nourish divine feelings. Lust, anger, greed, delusion, pride and envy: these six qualities have taken shape in us as the six enemies. We must drive these six away and give their place to these six: Character, Pity, Non-Violence, Control of Mind, Love, Truth; to the one we must say Send off, and to the other Welcome. If this is done, it makes a man Supreme.
Reach the high goal
Students! Your age is a very holy age. At this very age you must fill yourselves with divine feelings. Only when the tanks are filled with water in the rainy season can it be used in the hot season. Only when you fill yourselves with holy feelings at the start of life can you be blessed in the future. Do not compare yourselves with the outer world; develop your divine feeling and try to widen it. Always look up; do not look down. Look up, Low aim is Crime. Set this aim within you. Only then can you achieve something of use, however small. It is said, “Rather than chase and kill a lame fox, aim at a tiger, even if you miss.” Always study with the aim of getting 100 Per cent and Pass. So all students must get full marks, a hundred in a hundred, in their examinations. Become exemplary students in our institution, and in every matter grow in Satya, in Prema and in feelings that gladden the mind. If you develop this principle of Prema, everything will turn out right through this nectar of Prema. Without Prema, even a mother will not love you. Along with the Prema that belongs to the body, you must develop the Prema that belongs to the Ātma.
