Passage 15

In plain words

The Vice-Chancellor should make a small change in this programme, keep three classes in the morning tomorrow, and set the children free from 11-30 in the afternoon. You must not waste that free time. Write down well the small points of the morning, read your notes or rest: do these two, but give no room to needless talk.

From tomorrow, as your Vice-Chancellor wishes, I shall begin the subject of how a human being can reach Divinity. This is very necessary. Having been born human, it is a matter of great importance to make this humanness fulfilled. We listen to all the news of what is happening in country after country, but man cannot recognise the news that comes from himself. The nuisance that comes from within us is far greater than the news that comes from outside. If we drive away that nuisance, all this nuisance will go far away. Then we can fill it with sacred Divinity. From tomorrow, when all of you take part in this gathering fresh and with a pure heart, you will receive things of great value. Make the vessel of the heart pure. There is nothing that is not found in some śāstra, some Upaniṣad or some Veda. All of it is the very form of the Veda. We do not understand them only because there is no one to explain them at length. I have resolved to tell them to you without fail, simply, suited to your level, helpfully, as an ideal and in a way that serves your sādhana, and so to make your hearts truly pure.
