In plain words
It is not enough merely to utter the Name of God. We must enter into God's work.
I have said it many times. Hanumān made friends with Vibhīṣaṇa. In one conversation Vibhīṣaṇa was very sad. “Hanumān, how fortunate you are! You are always absorbed in Rāma's service. You are receiving Rāma's grace. For so long I have been remembering Rāma's Name. But the sight of Rāma does not come to me,” he said. Hanumān asked one small question. Vibhīṣaṇa, you remember Rāma's Name, but do you take any part in Rāma's work? When you take no part in Rāma's work, how will you receive Rāma's grace? It is ten months since Sītā Devī entered Laṅkā. Is not helping that Sītā the service of Rāma? Have you taught Sītā anything at all to give her some comfort? Or have you gone even once to see Sītā? Have you found any means to remove her suffering? How then will Rāma's grace come to you? Though Rāma's Name is in every hair of my body, I have dedicated my life to Rāma's work alone. What must we do? Dil me rām, hāth me kām. We must dedicate our life to these two. This is the sādhana the great ṛṣis did in that age. Their research too, in that age, was sacred research that they went on carrying out. So the human being is no ordinary being. Jantūnāṃ narajanma durlabham. Human birth is very hard to attain. If we want to make such humanness worthwhile, we must, as far as we can, enter into the contemplation of God and the search for God.
Students! From today I have resolved to make some more changes again. Because the children are so many, if they wish to bathe early in the morning and come for Swami's darśan, the poor children are getting up at two o'clock. Starting from two o'clock, the children's baths are all over only by eight o'clock, so the afternoon classes are all dull, poor things. From tomorrow we shall close the afternoon classes. By the time you come into the evening gathering, the mind will be nicely fresh. Tomorrow, keep only the morning classes, finish at 11-30, and rest well in the afternoon. Go over the small points in your mind. Then, when you come here at four o'clock, you can come fresh. Some of the children are not fresh now. Even while Swami is telling them good things, they keep nodding off now and then. In such a state, however precious the things given, there is no benefit.
