In plain words
In our land of Bhārata there is no lack of riches and wealth at all. Our land of Bhārata is rich. Had this country been a poor country, the Turks, the Persians or the British would not have come invading this country in former times. Just because this country abounds in riches and wealth, every foreigner set his eye on our country. Our own people of Bhārata look on such a holy land of Bhārata as a poor country and belittle it. From this there arises a danger. What is it? A kind of disbelief can grow in us. Only when we turn the backward course in us into a forward course does our life reach the best state; otherwise human life itself falls into ruin. Money, gold, goods, vehicles and the rest are not important for us. All these are just like passing clouds. Good qualities alone are our eternal, true wealth. We must develop that wealth of good qualities.
The inner meaning of building the hospital
The quality of helping others alone makes man's Divinity shine forth. So, to show the ideal to individuals, to society, to the nation and to the government, Swami begins great works, starting from small things.
In former days the population of this Puttaparthi was only 200 people. That a “university” should begin in just such a hamlet was news out of a dream. That an “airport”, which many important towns do not have, should come up in this hamlet is another wonder. This Puttaparthi is taking shape as a chief centre for the whole world itself.
You must enquire into the reason for starting in this very hamlet this big “hospital”, which ought to have been started in towns that have every facility. The rich, those who have money, can go anywhere at all, spend any number of lakhs, and get their illnesses cured. But the poor cannot leave the village and go to distant places for medical facilities. This big hospital was started in the village itself precisely out of regard for the welfare of such village people. I told our doctors, “First of all, give special attention to the heart diseases of those who live in the villages.”
Today there is good news to be announced. Fifteen minutes after the Prime Minister of our land of Bhārata opened the hospital, our doctors began to do “operations”. Within three hours four major operations took place. One was a very complicated heart operation. That person had a hole in the heart. Even such an operation went off successfully. All are well.
