In plain words
A man in practice is what is needed. This is the learning we must learn. This is Brahmavidyā. This is Ātmavidyā. This is the learning of Advaita. This is spiritual learning. All the learning that is learnt from these books makes the two, the book and the head, one.
In the world today knowledge is of five kinds. In general, the kinds people experience in the world every day are only two. One is bookish knowledge; the second is superficial knowledge. Then the third is general knowledge, the fourth discrimination knowledge, the fifth practical knowledge. Today's students have General knowledge zero. And they do not travel as far as practical knowledge. How long does this bookish knowledge last? Bookish knowledge today, allergy after that. There is no need even to go as far as tomorrow. All the children of today turn the book into the head, and the moment they go into the examination hall they pour out everything in that head onto the paper and come back home with an empty skull. What name can such educated people bring to the country? The very learning they learnt is no longer with them. The country needs right leaders today. The boys and girls of today must become those who raise up the Bhārata of the future. The leaders of today were also students once! So it is the students who will be the leaders, the pleaders, in the future.
Man must develop a broad heart. There must be no narrow feelings. Expansion of Love; not contraction of Love. Today, because there are no broad feelings and only narrow feelings, whether lawyers or doctors, they lead a hard life. Even if a life is slipping away, they will not give that person medicine. ‘First put down the money,’ they say. All the sacredness of our Bhārata has perished in this way. In olden days Bhārata stood in the very first place in honouring guests and visitors. The people of Bhārata held that selling food was a great sin. And second, they gave learning free.
