Passage 5

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

When it falls from the sky, the rain is one. But according to the influence of the place where those drops fall, their forms and names change. That does not make any difference in the rain. The differences appear only according to the influence of the place. So only when we make the hearts of individuals broad do we become fit to proclaim its sacred history.

The prosperity of the country is to be held as our own prosperity

Embodiments of Prema! Only when all the village officers grow into exemplary lives will the country be in full welfare. The country will flourish as if every day were a festival, with green festoons at every door. What has passed has passed. What is to come depends on today's present. The fruit of whatever deeds we do in the present turns into the future. So, if the future is to be good, in the present we must show an example in a way that is right, orderly, divine and new. The effort of all the village officers today to gather in one place and take training fit for this sacred work is exemplary. We may have many kinds of personal troubles, losses and sorrows. But we must push all these aside and work for the welfare of the country. If we develop the divine feeling, ‘The prosperity of the country is our prosperity, the welfare of the country is our welfare,’ there is nothing greater than this for humanness.

Mānavuḍu: what does mānavuḍu mean? The one who has the principle of Manas is mānavuḍu. What kind of quality must it be? Mā, Ajñāna; na, without; va, acting. What is acting without Ajñāna? It is Jñāna! What is Jñāna? Breadth! What is breadth? Light! So when we carry on our humanness with breadth and with light, we can shape our country into a divine country. All the prosperity of the country depends on the individual.
