In plain words
No; the tree gives them to other creatures. See! The sacrifice of the tree in God's creation! God created rivers. Does the river itself drink even one drop of the water that flows in it? It gives that water up to the creatures that long for it. God put holy milk in the cow. But does the cow drink any of its own milk itself? No. The cow gives that milk to its young and to others as well. But man, who has every kind of intelligence, every virtue and every power, has not risen to this sacrifice. Sunk in the selfishness that says every fruit he earns is for the use of himself and his own alone, he moves very far away from the sacrifice of living for others. That is why so many kinds of sorrow keep pursuing man. So many kinds of disease, too, keep pursuing man. Animals do not have many diseases. Birds do not have many diseases. Those creatures eat the food that nature has made ready and live in joy. But man turns his cleverness down many different roads, eats food of every kind and falls prey to diseases of many kinds. The chief disease in man is just one! It is selfishness. This selfishness is the great disease. Only on the day man gives up selfishness can he experience Ānanda in life.
Only those who have renounced all attachment are the true kings
There is sacrifice in beasts, birds and wild animals, and in trees too, but in man sacrifice is disappearing. Only when the quality of sacrifice is there does radiance grow. As selfishness grows, radiance wanes. Man does not recognise this Satya. Apart from studying something or other, becoming a great scholar, becoming a high officer, earning money and putting on a show of overflowing with joy, true Ānanda is nowhere to be seen in man.
