Passage 10

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Prema melts even the hardest heart

We must develop the broad feeling that God is in all. ‘Adveṣṭā sarvabhūtānāṃ’: we must hate no one. We must develop broad feelings. Prema is very broad. This Prema melts even a hard heart. In ancient times many ṛṣis did tapas in harsh forests, among nothing but wild beasts. They had no weapons. All they had was the weapon called Prema for God. Because they bore that weapon of Prema, they lived in friendship even with the wild beasts, and the two lived happily and in peace in the same forest. That Prema melted even the hearts of the wild beasts. How sacred such Prema is! Because man today has lost such Prema, hatreds are growing. Today no bond of kinship at all is seen between man and man. That is not the principle of Prema between men.

Though human beings appear different, we must recognise the Satya that the one principle of the Ātma is in all

We must regard humanity as one. Unity in diversity. See how many people are here! But:

Beings are many, breath is one, Jewels are many, gold is one, Stars are many, sky is one, Nations are many, earth is one

Though human beings appear different, we must recognise the Satya that the one principle of the Ātma is in all. This alone is broadness, the chief quality in our culture of Bhārata. Many people have given the word ‘saṃskṛti’ many meanings. Each made his commentaries to suit himself.
