In plain words

So we must first burn away this selfishness and Ahaṅkāra. Only then will selflessness arise in you. Making such a principle of Prema our support, developing the feeling of Prema, leading a life of Prema alone, we must come to our end in Prema itself. While we experience this principle of Prema, no sufferings come near us. All sufferings are only for one who has no Prema.

Srikanth said, ‘When Nīrajā was lighting the lamp, gazing at Kṛṣṇa in that lamp, she did not know even though her finger was burning. She forgot her very body.’ That is true Prema. If there is fear in you that your finger may burn if you put it in the lamp, God will never appear to you at all. What is the reason? You have more love for your body than Prema for God. In this way you are increasing the delusions about the body, which is impermanent and does not last. You are forgetting the principle of the Ātma, which is one with eternal Satya and with the principle of Prema. We must follow such a feeling of oneness. The Avatāras too come only to awaken such a principle of Prema. Though divinity is in all, people are unable to recognise it. God is in you as oil is in sesame seeds. Only when you press the sesame seeds can you anoint your head with that oil; can you anoint your head with sesame seeds? You must take the oil out of the sesame seeds. Every human being meets with some troubles.

In troubles above all, Prema for God must grow

Rubbed and rubbed, again and again, sandalwood gives out its lovely fragrance; cut and cut, again and again, the stalk of sugarcane stays sweet; burnt and burnt, again and again, gold keeps its shining colour; even when life ends, the nature of the noblest suffers no change.
