In plain words
That is, this Prakṛti is made up of the three guṇas. Prakṛti is made up of the sattva, rajas and tamas guṇas. That is why the sāttvic guṇa is Lakṣmī, the rājasic guṇa is Sarasvatī. The tāmasic guṇa is Pārvatī. Prakṛti is a blend of the sattva, rajas and tamas guṇas. So, to receive the grace of Prakṛti, we have gone on worshipping Durgā, Lakṣmī and Sarasvatī. These called Durgā, Lakṣmī and Sarasvatī are not goddesses; they are guṇas. Prakṛti is made up of the three guṇas. So the worship of Prakṛti is man's chief goal.
Prakṛti and the Paramātma are like negative and positive
First, to worship Prakṛti and win the grace of the Paramātma. So this is human effort, and that is divine grace. Prakṛti and the Paramātma are like negative and positive. However powerful the positive, the Paramātma, may be, if the negative, Prakṛti, is not there, creation does not take place at all. So Prakṛti is the root support of creation. In your hand there are seeds, very sacred and very strong. But only when you plant them in the earth do they turn into trees and come to you as fruits. If you do not plant them in the earth but keep them in your hand, what comes of it? If the seed is to become a tree and give fruits, you must plant it in the earth. So the earth is the support of all creation. If man's Ajñāna is to be rooted out, we must worship Prakṛti first of all. We must worship Prakṛti and win the grace of the Paramātma. To have Prakṛti's consent, the grace of the Paramātma is needed too. When we forget the grace of the Paramātma and want to enjoy Prakṛti alone, all our lives become the lives of the asura Rāvaṇa. Forgetting Rāma and longing for Sītā, who is Prakṛti, what end did he come to? So, when we want to win the grace of the Paramātma, we must worship Prakṛti. That is why the Upaniṣad said ‘Tasmai namaḥ karmaṇe’, bidding us bow to karma.
