In plain words
That is not possible at all. If the Bhakti is firm from the start, it cannot change. Changes like these come only to people who live for self and their own ends. In the Bhakti of those who live in full Prema, no change at all comes. That is unwavering Bhakti. That is the inseparable bond. Such Bhakti must come. Only then does God's heart melt. God is moved. We must foster that Bhakti which melts Him. The pūjās of this Navarātri are just this: in these Navarātri days to foster such divine power and make the effort fit to win us the grace of seeing divinity face to face. God is not somewhere far away; He is in us. He is all around us. He is within us. We are not trying to recognise this. We live in separateness alone, thinking, ‘I am one, God is another.’ There is one thing that joins the two. That is Prema. Here is a sheet of paper. Beside it is another sheet of paper. What must we do if we want to join these two? We must put glue between the two. Then the two will join. What joins the jīvātma and the Paramātma is this glue called Prema. Only when this glue called Prema is applied does the jīvātma become one with the Paramātma. This Prema must not be put into what belongs to Prakṛti. It must be put into divinity alone. Today we must cultivate such a principle of perfect Prema.
Only when there is one's own effort is God's grace gained
Embodiments of Prema! Depending on the food we eat and the surroundings we move in, many doubts keep arising in our human life. We must not give in to such doubts and become unfortunate. If any such changes come about in you, it is only the fate written on your forehead! We must master it in the right way. We must push through troubles and losses, bear them, and go on. We must not give petty doubts the least room. All these are notions within you, not in God. God is ever like a diamond. Such a diamond does not change in the least.
