Passage 11

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

It does not grow because of one person, nor shrink because of another. ‘Bābā! Do that for me, do this for me! Change my heart!’: if you say that, is that Bābā's work? Carry out your own duty yourself. If Bābā does everything, what work is left for you to do? This is nothing but laziness! Such laziness is dust and rust. Bābā does not touch such things. You must achieve it by your own effort. You must set yourself to your own effort. Only then does God's help come.

Effort and striving are man's Dharma; victory and defeat rest with God.

To ask all this, ‘O God! Do that, do this, change my heart,’ is the mark of the weak. If there is full faith within you, why would it not change? Since it is not in you, you ask, ‘Change me.’ Changing you is not My work! Clearing your karma is My work. So it is vital that every person recognise this Satya and act on it. First, root out the faults within you yourself! See that your Bhakti and prapatti are steady! Keep them from changing in any situation! That is your own effort. Only then does God's grace come as well. Entering this path of Satya and walking the path of Prema, we must merge in boundless divinity.
