Passage 1

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

In hollow men who have no purity of citta, anger and envy gather together; bats come to dwell in a dark house: never forget this good word.

Embodiments of the divine Ātma!

When he is born, every human being takes birth without qualities, with neither bad qualities nor good ones. As time goes by, as his food changes, as certain ambitions grow, man's life enters paths of many kinds. Through the faults of the company he keeps, man changes his guises and builds up pride and Ahaṅkāra. The moment he steps onto the path of education, man soils his life with many feelings of attachment and hatred. Even before education, these bad qualities spread through the body from foot to head and run riot. Man swells with pride that there is no one in this world above him. Thinking that he alone is the best of all the people in the world, he delights in himself.

Only when it is refined in the fire of Prema do the bad qualities go and the citta take shape as ever pure

All these are nothing but hollow feelings, without purity of citta! Pure milk mixes with water and loses its worth.
