Passage 6

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

It must begin with the form. It must begin with all beings. This alone is true spirituality. Spirituality is not only practising japa, dhyāna, yoga and good deeds. We must root out the beast nature in man, slay the demonic nature in humanness, and show the divinity in humanness. Ash covers the fire. Because of that ash we cannot see the fire. Blow the ash away, and the fire comes into our view. In the same way, in the heart of everyone a flame belonging to the knowledge of Brahman, belonging to Sat-Cit-Ānanda, is ever burning. Over it lies a covering of ash: attachment and hatred, pride and possessiveness, Ahaṅkāra. Only when we take these away does this divinity called Sat-Cit-Ānanda become visible to us. So we must not think that God is somewhere, and that we must go searching somewhere for Him. Why go searching for God, who is there wherever you look? This is just what the Veda proclaimed: ‘Antarbahiścatatsarvam vyāpya nārāyaṇasthitaḥ’. Where are we to search for God, who is everywhere, within and without? To search is Ajñāna. What is this Ajñāna like? It is just like trying to search outside for yourself. You do not go searching for yourself somewhere outside, do you! You are just yourself. You are your own witness! In the same way, when God Himself is you, how great an Ajñāna it is to search for yourself! To search for God is just as great an Ajñāna! You are your own being!

To make time worthwhile is the duty of the body

Divinity is contained in one's own nature. But as the ages change and as time moves on, feelings keep changing. Jesus did many great deeds, stood by the poor and the helpless, gave man the good teachings he needed, and sacrificed His life in many ways. For all He did, they charged Him with treason against the king and tormented Him in many ways.
